São Bernardo prison guard murder suspect arrested in Timon

The Civil Police of Maranhão arrested a 46-year-old man in the Cajueiro neighborhood of Timon for his involvement in the murder of a prison guard in São Bernardo.

The incident occurred on May 25, 2024, at a bar in the Santo Eugênio rural area. Investigations revealed that the suspect engaged in a dispute motivated by jealousy and opened fire on an individual. When the prison guard intervened to protect bystanders, including children, the suspect turned the weapon on the officer, resulting in his death. A woman was also wounded during the shooting but survived.

The suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants for homicide, attempted homicide, and drug trafficking. Additionally, he was caught in flagrante for receiving stolen property after being found with a mobile phone reported as stolen in Timon. He remains in custody awaiting judicial proceedings.
