Police arrest suspects following car robbery and chase in Belo Horizonte

Two men, aged 18 and 48, were arrested following a car robbery attempt and police pursuit that ended at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) Pampulha campus in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday night.

The incident began when a 44-year-old woman was approached by two men as she was leaving work. One suspect ordered her out of her vehicle while the other took her mobile phone. During the attempt to flee, the suspects struck a parked car before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot toward Avenida Antônio Carlos.

During the pursuit, military police apprehended the 18-year-old suspect near the campus. The 48-year-old suspect jumped the university fence into a wooded area, prompting a search involving patrol cars, tracking dogs, and the Pegasus helicopter. Students were instructed to remain inside university buildings for their safety.
