Police Arrest Suspects in Imo and Abia States Over Weapons and Armed Robbery
The Imo State Police Command arrested a suspected gun‑runner from Rivers State who was alleged to supply ammunition to kidnapping syndicates operating in Imo. Commissioner of Police CP Audu Bosso said the operation also yielded two kidnapping kingpins, recovered an AK‑47 rifle, multiple magazines, live cartridges and a cache of 346 rounds of ammunition, including AK‑47, M16 and Beretta pistol rounds.
In Abia State, police detained 22‑year‑old Chidera Okorie of Umunneochi LGA on suspicion of armed robbery. Officers recovered a stainless steel lighter made to resemble a pistol and other items used in the robberies. Both arrests were described as the result of actionable intelligence and are part of ongoing investigations.
The operations highlight police efforts to curb armed crime and illegal weapons trafficking across southeastern Nigeria.
