Police arrest suspects in separate kidnapping cases in Brooklyn and Bogotá

Authorities in Brooklyn and Bogotá have made arrests in two separate kidnapping cases.

In Brooklyn, 47-year-old Chrissy Payne was arrested following an attempt to kidnap a 4-year-old girl from her grandmother near a McDonald’s in Crown Heights. The child was reportedly snatched from her grandmother's arms before the mother, an off-duty police officer, intervened and restrained the suspect. Payne faces charges of attempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a minor.

In Bogotá, the Gaula police captured three individuals—a woman, her daughter, and her son-in-law—in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a 22-year-old manicurist. The incident, which occurred in January in the Ciudad Bolívar district, involved the victim being forced into a taxi at gunpoint and subsequently beaten. Investigators concluded the attack was motivated by a sentimental vendetta.
