Police arrest suspects in Taiwan abduction and Hong Kong gang brawl
Police in Taiwan and Hong Kong have responded to separate incidents of violent crime involving organized groups.
In Taiwan, five suspects were arrested in Keelung after a 51-year-old man was forcibly abducted from Heping Street in Xizhi. The victim sustained a deep laceration to his left arm that exposed the bone before being abandoned at Keelung Miners Hospital. During the arrest, police seized drugs, including etomidate and amphetamines, as well as an air gun. The motive for the abduction remains under investigation.
In Hong Kong, a large-scale brawl involving approximately ten men broke out near Tin Shui Wai Tin Chak Market. Investigations by the Yuen Long District Anti-Triad Unit revealed the fight was caused by a dispute between two gang factions over the illegal distribution of etomidate (often called ‘space oil’) via electronic cigarettes. The conflict arose when one faction allegedly bypassed a middleman to deal directly with clients. Police arrested three men with criminal records and are searching for four others, including a primary organizer who has reportedly fled the country.
