Police arrest thief in Glyka Nera and rescue stranded man in Milos
In Glyka Nera, a 40-year-old man has been arrested for a series of thefts and damages at a local cemetery. According to police investigations, the suspect had been systematically removing metal and ecclesiastical items from graves since the beginning of the year. The stolen items reportedly included candlesticks, frames, censers, and metal rings. The arrest was facilitated by security camera footage, which showed an individual moving through the cemetery and removing objects from graves. Upon his arrest, police found a bag containing stolen items and tools used for detaching metal elements.
In Milos, authorities conducted a rescue operation for a 33-year-old man who became stranded on a 20-meter rock in the sea at Fyriplaka beach. The man had climbed the rock but found himself unable to descend safely. The operation involved the Coast Guard, the Hellenic Police, firefighters, rescuers, and local lifeguards. The man was safely lowered from the rock using ropes. He was reported to be in good health and declined medical assistance following the rescue.
