Police arrest three during NDC constituency elections in Wa Central

Three individuals were detained by police at the Wa Technical Institute during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections for allegedly taking photographs of their ballot papers. While security was tightened at the Wa Central voting center, the process was reported to be proceeding smoothly following the arrests.

The election in the Wa Central constituency involves 77 aspirants contesting 17 executive positions. Out of an initial register of 1,988 delegates, 1,968 remain eligible to vote following 15 resignations and five deaths. Voting for the women organiser and youth organiser positions has concluded, while voting for other executive roles remains ongoing.

In other parts of the Upper West Region, including the Wa West Constituency, the election process faced temporary suspensions and delays. These disruptions were caused by concerns regarding the use of ballot papers that lacked serial numbers.
