Police arrest three siblings in Dhaka for extortion and gang activity

Police in Mirpur, Dhaka, have arrested three siblings—Md Mehedi Hasan, Sanjim Hasan, and Md Amit Hasan—in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The arrests were made during a special operation by the Mirpur Model Police Station.

Authorities allege the siblings were involved in extortion, controlling the garment remnant (jhut) trade, seizing land and flats, and managing teenage gangs. Police claim the suspects acted on behalf of the “Four Star Group,” a criminal syndicate led by their uncles, who are currently fugitives residing abroad. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the syndicate's influence in the area.
