Police arrest three suspects after attempted robbery in Essequibo

Three men were arrested following an attempted armed robbery at the Tuschen New Housing Scheme in East Bank Essequibo. The incident occurred around 06:48 hrs on Friday, targeting the home of a 42-year-old Director of Projects at the Central Housing and Planning Authority.

The victim observed four masked individuals entering his yard via security cameras after he had stepped outside to dispose of garbage. Upon seeing the suspects attempting to open his western door, the victim contacted the police.

Police intercepted three suspects at Fisher Dam, Zeelugt. The detainees include a 23-year-old labourer, a 22-year-old labourer, and a 22-year-old security guard, all from the Georgetown area. During searches, officers recovered two suspected firearms and six rounds of ammunition.

The seized items were lodged at the Leonora Police Station. Crime scene technicians have extracted footage from several CCTV cameras in the area to assist with ongoing investigations.
