Police arrest two suspects, including 15‑year‑old, after Portoviejo massacre
A shooting on Sunday night on Vicente Macías street in the Andrés de Vera parish of Portoviejo, Manabí province left three people dead and three others seriously injured. Police forces, led by Colonel Hugo Amores of Zone 4, launched an immediate operation that captured two suspects – a 40‑year‑old man and a 15‑year‑old teenager – both residents of Portoviejo. The operation recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used in the attack, several mobile phones and a cache of weapons, drones and ammunition. Preliminary investigation suggests the attackers targeted specific victims but also caused collateral casualties. Ballistic evidence indicates 9 mm firearms, possibly pistols or an automatic weapon. The investigation continues to identify additional participants and the material and intellectual authors of the crime.
