NSW Police arrest 732 people in domestic violence crackdown

NSW Police conducted a three-day domestic violence enforcement blitz known as ‘Operation Amarok XIV’ between August 14 and August 16. The operation resulted in 732 people being arrested and charged with a total of 1,589 offences across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

During the crackdown, police executed 228 arrest warrants and identified 546 breaches of apprehended domestic violence orders. The operation also led to the seizure of 118 firearms and 16 other weapons, including a WWII-era Lee Enfield rifle, Glock pistols, and a crossbow.

Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley stated the results are a ‘stark and confronting reminder of the scale of domestic violence across the state.’ For the first time, NSW Police partnered with ACT Policing to prevent offenders from evading authorities by crossing the border.
