Police chase in Czech Republic reaches 240 km/h
A high-speed police pursuit occurred between Havířov and Ostrava after an Audi driver ignored commands to stop during a routine night check. The driver reached speeds of up to 240 km/h while traveling toward Ostrava, prompting local officers to call for assistance from Ostrava colleagues.
The chase ended in the Kunčičky district of Ostrava when the driver pulled into a gas station and attempted to flee on foot into a nearby forest. His escape was blocked by a fence, allowing officers to apprehend him.
Investigations revealed the driver was under a valid driving ban. While a breathalyzer test was negative, the individual refused a test for drugs and psychotropic substances. He faces suspicion of obstructing an official decision, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to two years.
