Police chase in Italy ends in arrest after truck theft

A 62-year-old Bosnian citizen residing in Italy, identified as H. S. (also referred to as Sulejmanović), has been detained following a high-speed police chase after stealing a truck loaded with fruits and vegetables.

The incident occurred on August 6 when the suspect took advantage of keys left in a parked vehicle on Corso Pascoli. The owner's wife spotted the theft and pursued the vehicle while alerting authorities. During a chase along the former Highway 131, the suspect ignored repeated orders to stop. To halt the vehicle, Carabinieri officers fired seven shots at the truck's tires, striking the rear of the vehicle.

The pursuit ended at the Sant’Orsola bypass, where the suspect was apprehended. He faces charges of aggravated theft, resisting an officer, property damage, and failure to comply with police orders. The suspect has a significant criminal history, including a 2024 conviction for armed robbery. He is currently being held in the Bancali prison.
