Police chase in the Netherlands ends in McDrive crash
A high-speed police pursuit in the Netherlands ended in a dramatic crash at a McDonald’s drive-thru near Udenhout. On a Monday morning, police in Eindhoven attempted to stop a white Volkswagen Golf GTI containing three men suspected of theft.
The driver refused to yield, leading officers on a 30-kilometer chase where speeds reportedly reached 250 km/h. To avoid the danger posed by the extreme velocity, patrol officers maintained a significant distance from the vehicle.
The pursuit concluded when the Volkswagen veered into a McDonald’s parking lot and struck the McDrive area. The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle, which subsequently caught fire. The three occupants fled the wreckage on foot toward a nearby field.
Authorities deployed a large-scale response, including dozens of officers, police dogs, and a helicopter to search the area. All three suspects were eventually apprehended. Firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames from the destroyed vehicle.
