Police commemorate officer Daniel Ernst ten years after death
Police officials, family members, and Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann gathered at the Altdorf Forest Cemetery to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the death of officer Daniel Ernst.
Ernst was shot and killed while on duty in Georgensgmünd on October 19, 2016. During the memorial service, Middle Franconia Police Vice President Ulrich Rothdauscher addressed the family, noting that while wounds may scar over time, the loss remains deeply felt. Ernst was remembered by his colleagues in the Special Operations Command as a professional, reliable, and highly regarded officer.
Minister Joachim Herrmann used the occasion to address the increasing hostility faced by law enforcement, stating that an attack on a police officer is an attack on everyone. The police department reaffirmed its continued support for Ernst's family and emphasized that his memory lives on through the daily work of his colleagues.
