Police Community Support Officers engage residents in Reading care home and Crediton town

Friends Place care home in Reading welcomed Police Community Support Officers Sue Nix and Fraser Sinclair from the Pangbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team. Residents and staff discussed the role of PCSOs, how community policing differs from regular police duties, and shared views on policing changes. Alina Gutu, General Manager at Friends Place, said, “It was great to welcome Officers Sue Nix and Fraser Sinclair to Friends Place for a lovely meeting with our residents.”

The Crediton Neighbourhood Policing Team, represented by PC Armitage and PC Ravenscroft, issued an update on anti‑social behaviour around the bus stop on Crediton High Street. Officers described regular foot patrols, voluntary requests for individuals to move away from the area, and the challenges of limited arrest powers. They announced that Devon & Cornwall Police, in partnership with Mid Devon District Council, have secured a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) that will allow authorised officers to remove open alcohol containers and take other actions to curb anti‑social conduct.
