Police conduct arrests for drug offenses and drunk driving in Taiwan and Japan
Police in Taiwan and Japan have conducted several arrests involving driving under the influence and drug offenses.
In Taiwan, officers from the Shulin Precinct apprehended a man following a high-speed chase after he refused a sobriety check. The suspect, who was wanted on eight separate warrants, crashed his motorcycle and was found in possession of narcotics, stimulant-laced e-cigarettes, and a controlled weapon.
In Japan, multiple incidents of driving under the influence were reported. In Fukuoka Prefecture, a 42-year-old company executive was arrested after drinking whiskey in his car and subsequently driving the following morning despite prior police warnings. In a separate case, the head of the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau expressed regret following the arrest of a public official in Yamagata Prefecture for exceeding the legal alcohol limit while driving.
