Police conduct arrests for robbery in Senegal and sexual abuse in Niger

In Senegal, police in Parcelles Assainies have referred three individuals to the prosecutor's office following a series of violent robberies on the Voie de dégagement nord (VDN). The incidents occurred on October 9, 2026, following a press conference by wrestler Talfa. Groups of youths reportedly targeted commuters in the area. Four victims identified two of the suspects as the group's leaders. During the operations, security forces also apprehended a suspect who attempted to flee by climbing a wall at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium.

In Niger, authorities in Niamey have arrested three men in connection with the sexual abuse of two minors, aged 14 and 16. The investigation began after a mother reported the incident to the judicial police. The suspects, identified as a football club official, a former neighbor, and a member of the security forces, allegedly used sports equipment as bait to lure the victims. Medical examinations confirmed the abuse, and investigators are working to determine if there is a wider network involved.
