Police conduct arrests in Peru robbery and Ecuador extortion cases

In Peru, authorities have detained 24-year-old Modesto Zea Limache, known as ‘Cholo Zea’, following an armed robbery in the Gregorio Albarracín district. The victims, a family operating a pig farm and animal feed business, identified Limache as one of five suspects involved in the violent attack. The robbery, which occurred in the San Antonio sector, involved physical aggression against elderly adults and minors. Limache, who has a prior criminal record and has previously been held in the Tacna men's prison, remains the only person in custody as investigations continue to locate the remaining suspects.

In Ecuador, police have recaptured an individual known as ‘alias Ze Menor’ in Portoviejo, alongside the arrest of his wife in Loja. The arrests were part of an operation by the National Anti-Kidnapping and Extortion Unit (Unase) targeting extortion networks operating in Guayaquil and Durán. Interior Minister John Reimberg announced the capture, noting that the suspect had previously been released following a judicial decision. The pair is accused of participating in criminal structures that demand illegal payments, often referred to as ‘vaccines’, from merchants and residents in high-conflict areas such as Nueva Prosperina.
