Police conduct drug seizure in Quebec and tobacco smuggling trial in France
Police in Havre-Saint-Pierre, Quebec, conducted a narcotics search on Thursday morning at a residence on Rue de la Dérive. The operation, carried out by the Sûreté du Québec and investigators from Sept-Îles, resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old man.
During the search, authorities seized approximately 600 grams of edible cannabis, cocaine, three firearms, various types of ammunition, magic mushrooms, drug paraphernalia, and nearly $1,000 in cash. The individual was released but is expected to appear in court at a later date on potential drug-related charges.
In a separate legal matter in Caen, France, a 29-year-old man appeared in court regarding a tobacco smuggling case. Following a surveillance operation in Orne, authorities intercepted contraband tobacco deliveries. The defendant admitted to purchasing smuggled tobacco for personal and family use, noting he used others to make deliveries while under electronic monitoring. He was sentenced to fines and legal fees.
