Jakarta South Police investigate weapon discovery at private school

Police and forensic teams are investigating the discovery of hundreds of weapon-related items at a private school foundation in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta. The items, which include airsoft guns, ammunition, magazines, and various spare parts, were found in rooms previously used by the foundation's former chairman.

During a recent forensic sweep of three rooms—the former chairman's office, the secretary's office, and the facilities room—investigators collected DNA samples to identify individuals who may have accessed or contaminated the areas. Authorities clarified that a room previously rumored to be a weapon bunker is actually a standard basement connected to other parts of the complex.

Preliminary findings indicate the presence of 995 items related to weapons, including airsoft guns, air rifles, and various calibers of ammunition. Investigators are currently examining the legality, ownership, and storage of these items, noting that some air rifles were reportedly capable of causing fatal injuries. The investigation is being coordinated with the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police's Firearms and Explosives Supervision Sub-directorate.
