Police conduct major operations in Hyderabad and Kanpur

In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad traffic police conducted a weekend crackdown on driving under the influence, resulting in the apprehension of 205 motorists. The group included 177 two-wheeler riders, 20 car drivers, and 8 auto-rickshaw drivers. Blood alcohol concentration tests revealed significant intoxication levels in several cases, with some individuals recording up to 550 mg/100 ml. Authorities warned that causing death while intoxicated can lead to up to 10 years of imprisonment under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

In Kanpur, a large-scale search operation was launched in the Kanjadunpurwa area of Kidwai Nagar to combat illegal drug sales. Approximately 135 police officers, organized into five teams, cordoned off the neighborhood and utilized drones for surveillance. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals, including a woman, and the seizure of approximately 11 kilograms of cannabis valued at millions of rupees. Police are currently working to dismantle the broader narcotics network operating in the region.
