Argentina police shootings kill two armed robbers in Avellaneda and City Bell

A retired officer of the Argentine Federal Police used his personal .22 Bersa Thunder pistol to fire several shots at a 71‑year‑old robber who, together with an accomplice, attempted an armed robbery of a couple in Gerli, Avellaneda. The incident was captured by a nearby security camera; the attacker was killed on the street and the second suspect fled. The provincial police opened a forensic investigation.

Earlier the same day, a 53‑year‑old sergeant of the Federal Police was riding a Honda Wave on Camino Centenario in City Bell, La Plata, when two armed motorcyclists tried to steal his vehicle. After being threatened with a firearm, the sergeant fell, identified himself as police and opened fire with his Glock 9 mm, killing the 18‑year‑old assailant and wounding his 26‑year‑old accomplice, who was taken to Hospital San Roque under police custody. Both shootings were recorded by city surveillance cameras and are being investigated by the respective judicial units.
