Police Crack Down on Speeding in Hemer, Germany and Gurnigel, Switzerland

German police in the towns of Hemer and Menden carried out speed checks at five locations, measuring 765 vehicles. The operation resulted in 56 warning fines and seven administrative offense notices, but no driving bans. The highest recorded speed was 67 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the Europastraße in Deilinghofen.

In the Swiss canton of Bern, a traffic stop on the Gurnigel near Riggisberg identified five drivers – three motorcyclists and two car drivers – exceeding the 80 km/h limit by up to 52 km/h. All five were issued citations, and two licences were confiscated on site. The cantonal police used the occasion to disseminate safe‑riding tips for motorcyclists.
