Police delegate shoots two youths during motorcycle stop in Guarulhos

A newly appointed Civil Police delegate, Carlos Eduardo Martins Filho, shot two young people during a motorcycle approach in Guarulhos, São Paulo, on Sunday, October 18.

According to the police report, the 33-year-old officer was conducting investigations related to a homicide alongside an investigator when they observed two motorcycles communicating in a manner that raised suspicion of theft. After a stop order was allegedly ignored, the vehicles moved alongside the police cruiser on Avenida Tiradentes.

The delegate claims that the motorcycle driver pulled his arm, causing an accidental discharge as he attempted to prevent the loss of his service weapon. The shots struck 22-year-old Luan Gomes Santos Cardoso and 18-year-old Gabriely Gonçalves Zaneli, who were subsequently rescued by emergency medical services (SAMU).
