Police departments in Taiwan and Hong Kong launch community safety initiatives

Police departments in Taiwan and Hong Kong are conducting community outreach and training programs to enhance public safety and social welfare.

In Pingtung County, Taiwan, the Lihang Police Branch held training sessions for community watch teams across several townships. The curriculum included patrol techniques, traffic command, domestic violence reporting, and disaster prevention. Additionally, officers visited Daren University of Science and Technology to educate freshmen on traffic safety, anti-drug awareness, and fraud prevention, specifically targeting risks like phishing and new synthetic drugs.

In Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Police Force launched the ‘Senior Police Volunteers Share Love 2026’ initiative. Led by Commissioner Chow Yi-ming, the program involves trained volunteers visiting 22 police districts to distribute over 10,000 gift bags to elderly residents. The initiative aims to deliver care while providing essential information on crime prevention, fraud detection, national security, and road safety.
