Police detain SUV driver in fatal Penang hit-and-run

Police have detained a 23-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway near the Penang Bridge ramp. The incident, which occurred around 4:00 AM, resulted in the deaths of two motorcyclists, identified as 22-year-old Mohamad Nazhif Faris and 20-year-old Daniesha Hana Mohd Hairul.

According to Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, post-mortem reports indicated the male victim died from severe head and neck injuries, while the female passenger died from severe head injuries. The suspect, a resident of Bukit Jambul, underwent a urine test which returned negative for drugs. He is scheduled for remand to assist with further investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
