Police dismantle horse theft and clandestine slaughter gang in Argentina

Authorities in Argentina and Paraguay have conducted several law enforcement operations targeting various criminal activities. In the Buenos Aires province, a major investigation into the theft of polo horses from Haras La Fija in Pilar led to the dismantling of a criminal gang. Following five raids in the Moreno area, eight individuals were arrested. Investigators discovered remains of the stolen horses, including heads and limbs, which were being used in a clandestine slaughter circuit to sell meat in local butcher shops. One primary suspect, Lautaro Rodrigo Manzanares, was found to have multiple outstanding warrants for robbery and homicide.

Other significant police actions include the arrest of a man in Bahía Blanca for allegedly supplying drugs to southeastern La Pampa, and the detention of a suspect in Tucumán for the murder of Fabiana Páez. In Santa Fe, a police officer was sentenced to three years of suspended prison for providing false testimony to hide her partner, a fugitive accused of homicide. Additionally, in Paraguay, two men were apprehended in Bahía Negra for cattle theft, and a group of youths successfully rescued a dog trapped in a sports facility in Fernando de la Mora.
