Police Disperse Armed Street Fight in East Jakarta, Arrest Youths

On Sunday (2 Aug 2026) police from Polda Metro Jaya intervened in a street fight on Jalan Cipinang Muara in Jatinegara, East Jakarta. Officers quickly broke up the clash and detained five youths suspected of involvement. They also seized several sharp weapons, including two machetes, a samurai‑style sword, a corbek, a bucket believed to contain hazardous liquid, and three motorcycles used by the suspects.

Earlier that morning, a patrol team in East Jakarta stopped three other youths near I Gusti Ngurah Rai road, confiscating a small machete, four mobile phones and a motorcycle linked to theft and robbery. The operations are part of a broader effort to curb street violence, illegal racing and other crimes in Jakarta’s eastern districts.
