Police dogs assist in arrests of four suspected burglars in Cologne and Leverkusen

Police service dogs Ciri and Aiko assisted in the arrest of four suspected burglars during two separate operations in Cologne and Leverkusen on the night of August 31.

The first incident occurred in Leverkusen-Rheindorf around 10:40 PM, when witnesses reported three men attempting to break into a school. Officers arrested a 17-year-old at the scene, while two other suspects, aged 17 and 18, fled to the roof. The service dog Ciri successfully intercepted them, leading to their peaceful surrender.

Hours later, around 2:00 AM, police responded to reports of garage burglaries in Cologne-Longerich. Three individuals fled the scene on bicycles. During the pursuit, a 28-year-old suspect abandoned his bike and attempted to hide in a tree within a wooded area. The service dog Aiko located and cornered him, resulting in his arrest. Police are still searching for two other accomplices who fled on bicycles.
