Police dormitory fire in Semarang affects 12 families

A fire broke out at the Semarang North Police Station dormitory complex in Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday afternoon, September 5, 2026. The blaze affected approximately 15 houses within a single residential block, impacting 12 families.

Semarang City Police Chief Kombes Pol Heri Wahyudi confirmed that all residents managed to evacuate safely, and there were no reported fatalities or injuries. Firefighters, police officers, and local residents worked together to contain the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, including the nearby Samsat office.

The fire was reported at 2:43 PM and was brought under control by approximately 4:00 PM. While the exact cause is still under investigation, authorities suspect negligence may have played a role. Displaced residents have been seeking temporary shelter in nearby halls.
