Police expand investigation into sandwich panel fraud in Romania

Police in Târgu Jiu have expanded an investigation into a series of fraud cases involving sandwich thermal insulation panels. Following the initial detention of three suspects in Galați County, two additional individuals, aged 22 and 23, have been detained.

The investigation currently covers 33 counts of fraud believed to have occurred in Gorj and several other counties. Suspects allegedly targeted customers by requesting advance payments for construction materials or services. In some instances, suspects reportedly visited clients' homes to perform measurements and begin work to establish trust before soliciting and receiving advance funds. The estimated damages in the initial stage of the investigation are approximately 30,000 lei.
