Police find drugs in vehicle of mother and son murdered in Brazil

Authorities are investigating the murders of Mônica da Silva Cordeiro, 41, and her son, Allan Henrique Cordeiro dos Santos, 26, whose bodies were discovered on the Estrada do Cachimbo near the Paraguay border in Mundo Novo, Brazil.

Forensic examinations revealed that Allan sustained three gunshot wounds and Mônica sustained four, with both victims receiving shots to the back of the head. Investigators also found traces of gasoline on the bodies and bruises on Mônica, suggesting potential torture or an attempt to incinerate the victims. Mônica was a nursing technician for the Perobal municipality and was on medical leave at the time of her death.

In a recent development, police recovered the victims' Hyundai Tucson in a rural area of Perobal following an anonymous tip. Upon inspection with canine assistance, officers discovered 6.2 kilograms of crack cocaine hidden in false compartments within the vehicle. The Mundo Novo Civil Police are investigating whether the killings were carried out by a criminal faction as part of a ‘crime tribunal’ execution.
