Police forces rescue injured owl and eagle in Brazil and Portugal

In Vinhedo, Brazil, the Municipal Civil Guard’s environmental support team rescued a wounded owl and a sagui (small monkey) on June 1. Both animals were taken to the Associação Mata Ciliar in Jundiaí for veterinary care and possible later release into the wild. The guards warned residents not to handle injured wildlife and to contact authorities for safe rescues.

In Covilhã, Portugal, the National Republican Guard’s nature protection service recovered an exhausted round‑winged eagle from a well on June 30. The bird was transported to the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wild Animals (CERAS) in Castelo Branco for medical evaluation, treatment and eventual release. The unit also urged the public to report any cases of wildlife injury or abandonment.
