Beatriz Vitória case: suspects arrested in Minas Gerais femicide investigation

Police in Minas Gerais have arrested two suspects, Samuel Castro Melo, 18, and Carla Luiza da Silva, 23, in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Beatriz Vitória Aparecida Neves Mota. The victim had been missing since October 9, after leaving a bar in Jaboticatubas. Her body was discovered on October 21, buried in a shallow grave in a rural area of the municipality.

Investigators are treating the case as a premeditated femicide. Evidence suggests the crime may have been motivated by jealousy involving the victim, her ex-boyfriend, and his current partner. A 15-year-old witness, who was in the vehicle with the suspects on the night of the disappearance, provided crucial testimony regarding the location where the body was found.

The victim's body was found with her hands and feet tied. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the funeral service in Jaboticatubas was limited to 30 minutes. Authorities are continuing to analyze mobile phone data and forensic evidence to confirm the full circumstances of the crime.
