Police identify four men following violence at Leiria derby

Public Security Police (PSP) identified four men, aged 18 to 33, following violent incidents during a Liga Portugal 2 match between UD Leiria and Académica de Coimbra at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium.

Hostility began before kickoff near the stadium, where approximately 150 members of an unregistered supporter group, ‘Armata Ultra’, reportedly acted aggressively toward authorities. Tensions escalated when a group leader allegedly snatched an Académica scarf from a moving vehicle, prompting police intervention that was met with insults and glass bottles thrown at officers.

During the match, which drew approximately 15,000 spectators, police recorded further infractions including the use of illegal pyrotechnics and supporters concealing their faces with balaclavas. The identified individuals face charges related to violent behavior, illegal pyrotechnics, face concealment, and throwing objects into spectator areas.
