Police identify remains found in London woodland as missing mother

Police have identified human remains discovered in woodland near Feltham, south-west London, as those of Joanne Sheen, a 44-year-old mother-of-three from Southampton who had been missing since December 2019.

The remains were found following a wildfire near Padstow Walk. Following forensic examination and DNA testing, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary took over the investigation from the Metropolitan Police. The death is being treated as a murder.

A 56-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in custody. The investigation has involved over 4,000 lines of enquiry and searches of numerous addresses and waterways.
