Santa Fe Police Detain Over 200 in Micro‑Trafficking Operations
In the first half of 2026 the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) in the department of La Capital, Santa Fe, carried out 371 raids across Santa Fe, Santo Tomé and Sauce Viejo. The operations seized about 60 firearms and resulted in more than 400 arrests, with over 50 % of those detained linked to micro‑trafficking. On the reporting day PDI executed 14 raids targeting micro‑trafficking, qualified threats, weapon abuse, qualified robbery and illegal deprivation of liberty.
Two older men were arrested for separate incidents of weapon abuse, one of which caused a fatality and another serious injury. A separate raid on a robbery of a truck driver led to the seizure of a vehicle, cash, phones and documentation. Additional seizures included cell phones, cocaine, marijuana and cash. Several of those arrested had prior serious criminal records, some with conditional sentences.
