Police in Australia conduct raids targeting weapons and child exploitation

Australian law enforcement agencies have conducted separate operations targeting illegal weapons and child sexual exploitation.

In New South Wales, Strike Force Ontar executed search warrants in Bundook and Tuncurry. Police seized knives, knuckle dusters, a stolen caravan, and six replica gel blaster pistols with ammunition. A 38-year-old man was arrested and faces 10 charges, including possession of prohibited weapons and unregistered firearms.

In Queensland, the Argos operation, involving the Australian Federal Police and various specialist units, targeted online child sexual exploitation through six search warrants across Brisbane and Far North Queensland. The operation led to the arrest of four men facing a total of 57 State and Commonwealth child sex offences, alongside drug and weapons charges. One 57-year-old man was allegedly found with over 30TB of encrypted storage related to child exploitation material.
