Police in Besançon recover stolen yellow submarine
French authorities have recovered a four-ton yellow submarine that was stolen from a former diving club in Ferney-Voltaire, Ain, during the first half of October. The submersible, which was used as a decorative piece for a diving equipment business, was located in Besançon after the owner spotted it listed for sale on the classifieds website Leboncoin.
The listing featured a suspicious price of approximately 100 euros, significantly lower than the object's actual value of several thousand euros. Following an investigation by the Besançon police, two men aged 27 and 47 were arrested. Both suspects have been placed in custody and are expected to face legal proceedings via a penal order, involving fines of 400 and 500 euros respectively.
