Police in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have reported a series of significant traffic violations involving alcohol, unlicensed driving, and fleeing from authorities.
In Croatia, several incidents involved driving under the influence. A 30-year-old in Bektež was caught riding a moped with 2.05 per mille of alcohol, while in Mirkovci, a 67-year-old caused an accident with 2.29 g/kg of alcohol. In Koprivnica, a 39-year-old driver was fined after hitting a girl on a bicycle and subsequently consuming more alcohol before testing. Other notable cases include a 30-year-old in Pribislavcu who caused two accidents while fleeing police in a car registered to a 13-year-old, and a 21-year-old in Split caught riding a moped on a pedestrian walkway.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, police in Gradiška seized a Seat automobile from a driver with outstanding fines totaling 14,735 KM. The driver, identified as D. Meanwhile, in Banja Luka, authorities noted that increasing fines for mobile phone use have not deterred drivers, citing a lack of perceived risk of being caught.
