Police in Juquiá arrest homicide suspect from Maranhão

A 44-year-old man, Rui Reis Rodrigues da Silva, was arrested by the Military Police in Juquiá, São Paulo, following a routine highway inspection. Silva was wanted in the state of Maranhão for the alleged murder of Célio Roberto da Conceição Almeida.

The incident that led to the warrant occurred in November 2024 in Trizidela do Vale, Maranhão. It is reported that a dispute arose after Almeida offered a ride to Silva’s wife and children, resulting in Silva allegedly shooting Almeida in front of a residence. A preventive arrest warrant was issued in March 2025.

Officers from the 14th Battalion of the Military Police intercepted Silva on the SP-079 highway as he was leaving a property in a vehicle accompanied by his wife. Following the arrest, Silva was taken to a hospital for a medical examination before being transferred to a police station.
