Police in Taiwan arrest individuals for bicycle theft and driving under the influence
Police in Taiwan have addressed two separate criminal incidents involving theft and drug-impaired driving.
In Nangang, a man surnamed Hsu was arrested for stealing a bicycle valued at approximately 2,000 TWD. The owner initially believed a neighbor had borrowed the unlocked bike, but after a week, the theft was reported. Investigators used surveillance footage to track the suspect, a man with a history of theft who reportedly stole the bicycle because he was hungry and did not want to walk. Hsu admitted to the crime and stated he abandoned the bicycle after riding it a short distance.
In Yangmei, officers intercepted two separate cases of driving under the influence in a single day. A 62-year-old man was stopped for traffic violations and subsequently tested positive for heroin and amphetamines. Later that afternoon, a 63-year-old man was stopped for similar violations and tested positive for cannabis and amphetamines. Both suspects were arrested and referred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for violating drug control laws and public danger statutes.
