Police incidents in Volos and Chalkidiki involve arson and embezzlement arrest

Two separate criminal incidents were reported in Greece. In Volos, a 47-year-old inmate currently serving an 11-year sentence in Chalkida prison caused chaos at a local police station. The individual, who was being held pending a court appearance, set fire to two mattresses, threatened officers with death, and threw objects at them. He faces multiple charges, including attempted arson, property damage, and disruption of public service.

In Chalkidiki, police arrested a 45-year-old Bulgarian national in Polygyros following a European arrest warrant. The suspect is accused of embezzling approximately 100,000 euros through an online vehicle services platform between October and November 2025. He has been taken to the Prosecutor's Office to begin extradition proceedings to Bulgaria.
