Police incidents reported in Peru and Chile
In Peru, a retired police officer, Eduardo Miguel Pérez Solís, was detained in Chimbote, Áncash, after allegedly firing shots into the air while appearing to be intoxicated. During the intervention at the Dos de Junio sports complex, authorities discovered a pistol and a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition under the driver's seat of a red vehicle linked to the suspect. Pérez Solís reportedly lacked documentation for the firearm and allegedly acted in a threatening manner toward officers during the process.
In Chile, a Carabineros officer remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Clínica Las Condes following a shooting in the Lo Espejo commune. The officer suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by a gunshot wound to the head. While the patient has reached a level of stability, medical professionals describe the prognosis as reserved due to the severity of the injuries. Carabineros has deployed specialized teams to investigate the incident and locate the individuals who fled the scene.
