Police Inspector Rescues 70‑Year‑Old from Waves at Margherita di Savoia, Italy

Antonio Pinto, an inspector of the State Police from the Cerignola precinct, intervened off‑duty to save a 70‑year‑old man who was struggling against strong waves on the beach at Margherita di Savoia. Despite prohibitive sea conditions, Pinto entered the water, reached the man and brought him safely to shore. The rescue was highlighted by the Autonomous Police Union (SAP), whose provincial secretary Giuseppe Vigilante praised Pinto’s quick judgment, competence and sense of duty, emphasizing that protection of life extends beyond working hours.
