Police intervene at Kulmbach Beer Week over alcohol‑related incidents

During the Kulmbach Beer Week in Bavaria, police responded to several alcohol‑related incidents on Sunday. A 30‑year‑old rider on a pedelec, with a recorded blood‑alcohol level above 2.3‰, collided with a 73‑year‑old cyclist from Mainleus, causing minor injuries and about €100 in property damage. The rider was taken for a blood test and faces charges for endangering traffic.

Police also detained a 70‑year‑old heavily intoxicated festival‑goer who could no longer stand unaided; he was placed in a police holding cell for sobering up, with the cost of the detention to be billed later. In addition, officers seized an e‑scooter from a 20‑year‑old Syrian man who could not prove ownership. Overall, police described the day's overall situation as manageable despite the isolated incidents.
