Police intervene at Wrocław hospital over suspected illegal abortion

Police intervened at the A. Falkiewicz Specialist Hospital in Wrocław following reports of a suspected illegal abortion involving gynecologist Gizela Jagielska. The incident involved a patient in an advanced stage of pregnancy who had psychiatric recommendations to terminate the pregnancy due to mental health risks.

Medical staff reportedly proposed a procedure that would result in the birth of a live child, which the patient declined. Ultimately, no abortion was performed. Dr. Jagielska stated that information regarding the patient's situation may have been leaked by hospital staff to pro-life organizations shortly after admission, leading to police notification and protests.

The hospital has reported a potential breach of medical confidentiality. Dr. Jagielska, who began working at the facility in October 2026, has previously been the subject of protests by pro-life groups regarding her medical history in Oleśnica. The hospital administration maintained that her employment was based on professional qualifications and the facility's needs.
