Ankara police intervene in 38-day veteran protest in Güvenpark

Police intervened in a 38-day sit-in protest by veterans and relatives of martyrs in Ankara's Güvenpark. The group, demanding equal personal rights, was forcibly removed from the park in the early morning hours and transported to the Bilkent Gazi Uyumevi (Gazi Accommodation House).

Erdem Çerçioğlu, President of the Association of Martyr Families and Veterans, criticized the operation, describing the treatment as harsh and comparing the police tactics to those used against terrorists. Political leaders from various parties, including the CHP and Zafer Party, condemned the intervention, questioning the timing and necessity of the police action.

In response to social media claims that veterans were being denied entry to the Bilkent facility, the Disinformation Combat Center (DMM) issued a statement clarifying that the Gazi Uyumevi remains open to all veterans for rehabilitation and social needs. The DMM stated that the only restrictions in place are security protocols for individuals who do not hold veteran status.
