Police intervene to stop suicide attempt on Bechyně bridge

Police officers from the Týn nad Vltavou district responded to a report of a young man standing on the Duha bridge in Bechyně shortly after 21:00 on Wednesday. The patrol, consisting of senior sergeants Lukáš Ryšlavý and Pavel Dupal, arrived quickly and, seeing the man move closer to the rail, accelerated their vehicle, stopped, and leapt from the car to pull him to safety. The man, who had a blood‑alcohol level of about one promile and was dealing with personal problems related to a failed romance, was then taken into care by emergency medical responders.

Police spokesperson Lenka Krausová emphasized that there was no time for negotiation and urged anyone in crisis to use free helplines, citing the national psychological help line (116 123) and the safety line (116 111).
